Aicelle Santos in Joseph The Dreamer

"It felt different yet very familiar," says Aicelle Santos as she returns to theater after six years.

After six years and two pregnancies, Kapuso singer Aicelle Santos returned to the theater stage as she joined Joseph The Dreamer.

In an interview with GMANetwork.com, Aicelle admitted that returning on stage after a few years felt new to her but somehow familiar.

She said, "Una sa lahat, excited ako na nakabalik ako. It felt different yet very familiar. Siyempre may kaba kasi ang tagal mo nang hindi ginagawa ang live theater kasi mula noong 2019, I would only do events."

"Theater, ibang klase siya, ibang klaseng disiplina. And, you have to really commit your time rehearsing, and at the same time, juggling motherhood. I still have a one-and-a-half-year-old baby na hinahanap ako araw-araw."

Aicelle and her husband, sports broadcaster Mark Zambrano, have two children -- Zandrine Anne, born on December 5, 2020, and Zemira, who was born in 2023.

Aicelle plays the role of Rachel, the mother of the titular character.

"Si Rachel ay isang nanay, ako'y isang nanay din kaya marami kaming similarities ng character namin ni Rachel. I think how we portrayed it, manggagaling lang naman 'yun sa intention mo as a mother," Aicelle shared.

Is Aicelle like Joseph who is a dreamer or a realist?

"I would say I'm both. I am both. Realist because I think I'm still the type to take one day at a time and be present, lalo na 'yung aking pagiging nanay ngayon, you have to be present," she answered.

"But, at the same time, you dream for their future, and it's nice. It's nice that you set them up, you set them up to dream big and to achieve their dreams in the future.

"Ganun pala 'yun 'pag may anak ka na, hindi na lang para sa 'yo, more talaga para sa mga anak mo. Ako pati si Rachel, pareho kami sa aspeto na 'yun."
