Alden Richards opens up about grief after his grandfather's recent passing.

Kapuso star Alden Richards is mourning the passing of his grandfather.

In a Chika Minute report by Iya Villania on GMA News 24 Oras on January 23, Alden revealed that his grandfather passed away two weeks ago, which is the reason behind his social media break.

Alden said his grandfather's death made him realize the true importance of family.

This event reminded Alden of the significance of family above all else.

"Drop everything. No one can stop me when it comes to family. If something goes wrong or something happens, because, of course, we live in a very demanding world of show business, but it's a different matter when it's family," the actor said.

"Of course, a lot of Filipinos and a lot of our countrymen can relate to that. I'm just blessed," he added.

Alden turned 33 years old earlier this month on January 2.

He recently starred in GMA Prime historical family drama Pulang Araw with Barbie Forteza, Sanya Lopez, David Licauco, and Dennis Trillo.

Last year, his film with Kathryn Bernardo, Hello, Love, Again, became the highest-grossing Filipino film of all time after hitting cinemas both in the Philippines and internationally.
