Alden Richards shares the story behind his viral 'dila' moment that turned into a meme favorite.

From Box Office King, Alden Richards is now also a Meme King, proving that he is truly an icon beyond the entertainment industry.

In an interview during the airing of Beyond75: The GMA Anniversary Special over the weekend, Alden finally revealed the story behind the iconic 'dila' meme that continues to make waves online.

"This is the chance for me to enlighten everyone about what's happening with that trend," he said when the meme was brought up.

Asia's Multimedia Star revealed that his 'dila' photo was taken three or four years ago.

"Matagal na 'yun, hindi siya recent. Then, nagulat na lang ako, all of a sudden, it became a trend sa TikTok and social media," he shared.

Alden also admitted that he doesn't know exactly why it went viral, considering how long ago it was taken.

The Stars on the Floor host added, "But whatever serves the pop culture, the Philippines and sa ikasasaya ng lahat, siyempre, support tayo dyan."

After revealing the story behind it, Alden gamely recreated his viral 'dila,' which made the livestream hosts burst into laughter.

Recently, Alden joined the fun by using an animated version of the viral meme as his Instagram profile photo.

In a fun video, he took the trend to the next level by recreating his iconic 'dila' pose with varying levels of intensity to give his take on several Filipino dishes.
