Alden Richards admitted feeling nervous to work under the helm of Direk Paolo Valenciano for his 10th showbiz anniversary celebration, 'Alden's Reality'. But despite feeling the pressure, the Asia's Multimedia Star has actually made a commendable impression out of the production team that includes an international crew.

Alden is bannering the first-ever virtual reality concert in the country on December 8, 2020 to mark his 10 years in show business. To continue with this celebration under the new normal, the Asia's Multimedia Star is working with Direk Paolo as well as the international team I AM Cardboard to utilize the cutting-edge technology never before experienced in the Philippine concert scene.

During his media conference, Alden shared his joy to work with the people behind 'Alden's Reality.'

He said, “I'd seen a lot of projects ni Direk Pao with the best performers here in the Philippines, and for him to direct my concert, it's really an honor. I'm so grateful na pumayag siya. Hindi naman din po ako full-out performer, can sing, can dance lang naman pero hindi talaga ganun kagaling."

Despite working with Direk Paolo for the first time, Alden is thankful that he was given the opportunity to be involved with the conceptualization and creative process of his upcoming concert.

The Kapuso star claimed, “Ang sarap sa feeling na you're given a concept and this is what you really want to happen. And of course, 10th year anniversary, you want to showcase as much as the 10 years na nandoon. So iba pa rin 'yung nanggaling sa akin and then I'm performing it. Iba 'yung bigay ng puso and ng commitment especially if the songs and performances na lahat may input ako. 'Yun 'yung ikinaganda kay Direk Pao na parang 'Ayaw kita pagawin ng production numbers na you don't feel like doing.' Makikita 'yun eh, makikita 'yun visually na parang it's a half-baked performance, hindi bigay na bigay 'yung commitment at the same time.

“Ako, I'm just really happy na I'm part of the creative collaboration for this concert. Everything that they will see in this 'Alden's Reality,' the virtual reality concert, lahat po meron akong touch doon. I was part of the creatives who conceptualized each of the production numbers.”

Alden impresses the international crew

If there's any early indication of how outstanding and remarkable Alden is at his highly anticipated concert, 'Alden's Reality,' Direk Paolo hinted at their experience working with the Asia's Multimedia Star.

Direk Paolo emphasized, “A lot of them weren't familiar with Alden before this. A lot of them are fans now. Let's just put it that way.”

He further explained, saying, “A huge chunk of the production team, because we're working with new technology, they are not TV people. So 'yan, they're not very familiar with celebrities, with the showbiz industry. Iba 'yung mentality nila. And when we were working on this project, siyempre marami kaming na-encounter na challenges, until now actually. But it was Alden… Alden was basically the only one who didn't lose it. He's always the one who sort of like pushing the team to give more energy. Na kahit na nagagalit na lahat, si Alden was the one who was sort of like spreading the positive vibes to bring up the morale of the team, and that's something that really impressed us because he's the one who's under a lot of pressure, he's the one who had to learn so many things, to unlearn so many things for this particular project.

“He was the one who sort of kept the morale up, he was the one to always stay positive even when things were looking pretty hopeless for the project. It was Alden who sort of pushed us to really give our best, and that's something I appreciate a lot. There are not a lot of artists who are like that. Kasi usually 'pag nagkakagulo na ang production, hindi pa nga magulo ang production, the artist is the first one already who will give us problems. We didn't encounter anything like that with him. In fact, it was the complete opposite.”

Direk Paolo has worked with big names in the industry that includes Julie Anne San Jose, Christian Bautista, Aiai Delas Alas, Lani Misalucha, Sharon Cuneta, Rico Blanco as well as his father Gary Valenciano. Despite the star-studded list of performers he directed, he knows that Alden can truly stand out.

He said, “Alden keeps on saying he's not a singer, he's not a dancer but the guy can sing, the guy can dance. He has a lot of charm. This is something that I can even see, I can acknowledge while working with him and we really wanted to build on that, the charm of Alden Richards when he's on stage. There is a lot of that so I feel that we are successful in being able to capture that, to highlight that.”
