In the February 6 episode of GTV's cooking talk show Lutong Bahay with Mikee Quintos and Hazel Cheffy, Filipina actress Aleck Bovick shared news about her sexuality.

According to the actress, she is now opening a new door in her journey and revealed that she is now part of the LGBTQIA+ community.

Aleck said that she noticed something different within her at a young age and felt something was missing from her life when she was nearing 40.

“Bata pa lang kasi ako, mayroon akong na-fi-feel [at] napapansin sa sarili ko, pero hindi ko siya pinansin [o] in-entertain. Tuloy-tuloy lang. The way akong kumilos, the way akong pumorma, the way akong magsalita…” said Aleck.“Tapos ngayon, 39 [years old] na ako, sabi ko, mag-40 na ako parang there's something missing. Hindi ko alam kung ano 'yun.”

“So parang hinahanap mo [kung] anong mali. Parang may kulang,” she added.

With her new-found understanding of her sexuality and identity, Aleck proudly shared that someone is making her heart happy right now.

She added, “Nasa LGBT world tayo ngayon.”

But before she accepted and embraced herself, Aleck admitted having second thoughts and confusion about her identity.

“Noong una. [Sabi ko], 'Ang tanda ko na, ha. Ano na lang sasabihin nila? Paano 'yung ganito? Totoo ba 'to? Ma-co-confirm ko ba to sa sarili ko?' Tapos sabi ko, e, kiber kung ganito talaga ako. Kailangan kong tanggapin. Kailangan ko siyang i-accept,” said Aleck.

Lutong Bahay host Mikee Quintos later on expressed her delight on Aleck's bravery to embrace her identity, “I'm so happy for you. You deserve it. I think, after everything that you went through, it's about time na kayo naman 'yung maging masaya, na ma-feel n'yo naman 'yung love na binibigay n'yo sa iba…”

“Hindi ka naman selfish 'pag pinili mo ring mahalin ang sarili mo,” Aleck replied.
