Showbiz Royalty Alexandra Mendez is definitely a fitspiration!

On January 20, the Kapuso actress shared a before-and-after photo of her physique. According to Alexandra, she has been very dedicated to her fitness since 2020.

One of the things that has helped her get fit and lose some weight was discipline and consistent workouts.

"My journey with fitness really helped me learn to love myself more. At first, I did it for all the wrong reasons. I just wanted to lose weight and I felt that I had to do that to feel pretty. Now, I've learned that my body in all its phases is beautiful and I continue my fitness journey now for my health," she said.

Alexandra continued, "I started with HIIT (high intensity interval training) through videos on YouTube and just jogging around our village. Now, I enjoy doing yoga, and jump rope! It's all about finding a workout routine that is sustainable and enjoyable for you."

The actress revealed that she began her weight loss journey with the help of her family member, who is a bodybuilder.

"I embarked on my fitness journey by myself but I consulted a lot with a family member that is a bodybuilder. I asked for advice on healthy ways to lose weight through dieting and exercising," she shared.

For Alexandra, the most challenging part in achieving her fitness goals is the "restrictions."

"During the first months of my fitness journey, I thought that I had to restrict myself from eating certain food so that I could lose weight. Or that I should make up with exercising if I felt that I ate too much during a meal,” she said.

"I conquered it by learning that we shouldn't restrict ourselves from eating food that we love/like. I attended a class by registered nutritionist-dietitian, Jo Sebastian. That's where I learned to have a better relationship with my body and food."

Alexandra shared her fitness journey in the hopes that her experience will motivate others to a healthier lifestyle.

"More often than not, people start fitness journeys to meet unrealistic beauty standards. If you want to start your fitness journey, do it for yourself and yourself only. This will really keep you motivated to keep going,” she added.

"So that when you feel that you are not going anywhere on your fitness journey, you can always circle back to your 'why.' Remind yourself of all the reasons why you started this journey in the first place."
