The celebrity couple reflect on their 18-year romance while continuously supporting their children's passions.
Love is truly in the air for actor-politician Alfred Vargas and his wife, Yasmine Espiritu-Vargas, as they recently took a break from their busy schedules to enjoy a sweet and quick anniversary getaway.
On her Instagram, Yasmine shared moments from their romantic trip, expressing her deep gratitude and affection for her husband. Celebrating a rich history together, the couple's journey spans 18 years of love, 16 years of marriage, and nine years since they officially received the sacrament of holy matrimony.
The two first tied the knot in a civil ceremony in March 2010 before sealing their commitment in a majestic church wedding at the Manila Cathedral on July 23, 2017. Together, they are proud parents to four children: Alexandra Milan, Aryana Cassandra, Alfredo Cristiano, and their youngest, Aurora Sofia.
In a heartfelt post, Yasmine reflected on their years together:
"Thank you for being my constant through every season, the joyful days that made us laugh, the difficult moments that made us stronger, and all the ordinary days in between. Eighteen years of loving each other. Sixteen years of marriage. Nine years since we received the sacrament of marriage, and I thank God every day for the gift of us."
She added, "Thank you for being my home, my safe place... In every season, in every lifetime God allows, I will always choose you. Happy Church Wedding Anniversary, my amore. I love you, always and forever."
Beyond being a loving wife, Yasmine is equally dedicated to her role as a mother. Shortly after their romantic escape, the hands-on mom proved that her dedication to her children knows no bounds.
Even though her son, Cristiano, is already an awarded and talented competitive swimmer in his age group, Yasmine fully supported his decision when he expressed interest in trying out a new sport: basketball.
Sharing a glimpse of her son's new athletic venture, Yasmine wrote on Instagram:
"Cristiano: Mommy, I want to try basketball.
"Me: Sure, anak.
"And just like that, another 5:00 AM wake-up call, another sport to learn, another set of shoes to buy, and 4 hours of training sa init every Saturday. No matter what sport you choose, swimming, basketball, or both, I'll always be your biggest fan."
Cristiano's basketball journey comes amidst another exciting milestone for the young boy. Earlier, the Vargas family proudly shared that Cristiano has transferred to the Ateneo de Manila University.
Celebrating this new academic and athletic chapter, Yasmine posted a photo of Cristiano stepping onto his new campus grounds with the caption: "Stepping into a new school year with faith, purpose, and courage. Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam 💙🦅"
These positive developments and fresh starts come as a welcome breath of fresh air for the family, especially after navigating the painful ordeal of a bullying incident Cristiano experienced at his previous swimming school.
Now thriving in a supportive new community at the Ateneo, exploring new sports, and surrounded by a steadfast family, Cristiano—and the rest of the Vargas household—are clearly stepping into a well-deserved chapter of healing, growth, and fresh beginnings.
