In her vlog All Things T, actress and LGBTQIA+ rights advocate Mela Habijan talked about the importance of having allies.

According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, allyship is "the state of being associated with the members of a marginalized or mistreated group to which one does not belong." In the case of the LGBTQIA+ community, it's their family and friends who are not members of the community but are very supportive of them.

In her vlog All Things T, actress and LGBTQIA+ rights advocate Mela Habijan talked about the importance of having allies.

"Mahalaga ang suporta ng mga ally kasi they strengthen our battle for equality, for respect. Sa tingin ko, the strongest ally that we have is, of course, our family.

May your 2019 be filled with unconditional love. Happy New Year from #TheHabijans. ♥️♥️♥️

She adds, "I'm very blessed because my sisters and my brother have always accepted me for who I am, from their kuya to now being their ate, kaya naman thankful ako sa kanila."

Her sisters Mariae and Reina and brother Airick then shared their reaction when Mela revealed that she is transitioning.

Meanwhile, Airick shared that he wasn't surprised with Mela's decision.

They went on by discussing the transition that the family had to go through -- from addressing her as Kuya to their Sis Mela.

The siblings still sometimes call Mela Kuya at home, but they make it an effort to address her as Sis Mela when they're in public places.

A lot can really happen between 2009 and 2019. In my case, I found my true self. ♥️♥️♥️ #10YearChallenge #HowDidAgingHitYou

They also discussed the changes in their relationship, and why it was easy for the three younger Habijans to accept Mela.

In December 1985, Mama invited Papa to her hometown in Isabela for him to be experience the one-of-a kind fiesta in Tumauini. They were just new into their relationship and he was the first guy she brought home and introduced to her family. Little did they know that after that vacation, they would be coming back to Manila... as a married couple. It has been 33 years since they tied the knot through a civil wedding. If not for my grandfather's stubborn attitude, firmly instructing them to get married before going back to Manila, #TheHabijans wouldn't exist. Happy Anniversary, Erico and Irene! I couldn't imagine life not having you as my Mama and Papa. You are the reasons why I will always believe in true, unconditional love. Of course, it wasn't a smooth ride, but with your love for each other and faith in God, you held each other through those bumpy roads. So, payagan niyo na akong jumowa, please. Cheret! ♥️♥️♥️ I love you, Mama and Papa! You are my happily ever after! ♥️♥️♥️ #33YearsOfTheHabijans
