Cosplayer and entrepreneur Alodia Gosiengfiao shared on her social media pages a harrowing tale about the plane she was on had to make an emergency landing in India after news broke that Qatar had been hit by several missiles launched by Iran.
In a report by GMA News Online, the Iranian government intended to target the American base Al Udeid Air Base located in Qatar in response to the US bombing of Iran's underground nuclear facilities. In the same article, Tehran issued advance notice to the U.S. via diplomatic channels hours ahead of the attack, as well as to Qatari authorities.
In Alodia's social media update on June 24, she wrote, “Emergency landing in India. Praying for the safety of everyone in Doha… QR933 MNL>Doha>FRA.” Traveling with her was her husband, businessman Christopher Quimbo.
The couple also gave an interview to ABS-CBN News and talked about what happened on their flight after learning they had to make an emergency landing.
Alodia recalled, “What woke me up was the announcement na we had to have like an emergency landing and then like, I woke up like, why emergency landing? They wouldn't tell why.”
Christopher added, “We like fish for information, all we knew was that there are six missiles fired in Doha [Qatar] specifically… Like the nature of missiles, obviously there was a lot of turmoil right now, we are really worried that one of those missiles was really substantial.”
“Even one of the flight attendants' family,” Alodia interjected, “she was really worried, like one of the flight attendants.”
“We were really, really scared,” Christopher said.
In her next update, Alodia assured everyone that she and her husband were safe and had already arrived in Doha.
After a few hours, the Quimbo couple flew to Frankfurt, Germany for an event organized by a camera brand.
Since tying the knot in 2023, Alodia and Christopher have been blessed with a son named Cameron.
