Angel Guardian delivered a breathtaking performance of "Bagong Tadhana," the official soundtrack of GMA's superserye Encantadia Chronicles: Sang'gre, during the OST Symphony II: K-Drama in Concert held at Samsung Hall, SM Aura on Saturday, October 25.
In her Instagram stories, Angel gave fans a glimpse of her proud moment--radiant in a sparkling sky-blue fitted gown as she performed alongside the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra. She mesmerized the audience with her powerful vocals and elegance as she performed the Sang'gre theme song.
Angel shared that the experience still feels surreal to her--singing "Bagong Tadhana" with the country's leading orchestra.
"Hindi pa rin ako makapaniwala. Nakanta ko ang anthem ng Encantadia Chronicles: Sang'gre kasama ang Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra. Hanggang ngayon, parang panaginip pa rin," Angel said.
"Noong una, natakot ako. Akala ko hindi ko kaya... hindi naman ako sanay sa ganitong klaseng piyesa, at umawit sa ganitong malaking entablado. Pero naisip ko… hanggang kailan ako matatakot? Paano kung kaya ko pala?"
However, the journey to that stage wasn't easy. A few weeks before the performance, Angel got sick and temporarily lost her voice -- a setback that tested both her confidence and determination.
"Nawala ang boses ko. Dumating yung point na gusto ko nang umatras, iniisip ko, baka hindi talaga ito para sa akin. Pero nandyan si Lord, patuloy akong ginabayan. Nagdasal ako nang paulit-ulit, at ginawa ko lahat, kahit gaano kahirap--para maibalik ang boses ko.
"Kahit hirap magsalita, tuloy pa rin ang trabaho.
Kahit pagod, tuloy pa rin ang ensayo.
Kahit takot, tuloy pa rin ang tiwala.
At nung araw ng show… kahit hindi pa 100% recovered--naitawid ko.
"Para sa iba, isa lang itong awit. Pero para sa akin,
ito ay bunga ng ilang linggo ng pagsisikap,
ng sakripisyo, ng pagtitiwala sa sarili, at ng hiwaga ng gabay ng Maykapal," she added.
Angel currently portrays Deia in Sang'gre, the new guardian of Air Gem (Brilyante ng Hangin). The series was among the GMA shows highlighted during the event, which also showcased the Philippine adaptation of the hit K-drama My Love from the Star, where Kyline Alcantara performed its theme song, "My Destiny."
The OST Symphony II: K-Drama in Concert featured some of the most beloved and nostalgic soundtrack hits from well-loved K-dramas.
The event was co-hosted by the Cultural Center of the Philippines and the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, in partnership with the Korea Tourism Organization - Manila Office (KTO), Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), SM Supermalls, VIU Philippines, and GMA.
