On the set of Super Twins, iGMA.tv had the chance to sit down with the quirky young star who openly talked about her popularity and supposed rivalry with Katrina Halili. Text by Alula Love M. Dela Cruz. Photos by Connie M. Tungul. Since Iwa Moto set foot in showbiz, she has been many a man’s fantasy. Yet it hasn’t always been that way for this boyish and sexy teen who still finds it hard to believe she has many admirers. “Wow leveling ito!” she said while quickly reacting to our comment on the attention she receives from the male populace. “Before kasi I was really an ugly duckling. Nung bata pa ko there was a guy, his name is Jason, he was my classmate in grade 2? Lagi niya akong tinatawag na panget, tibo, bungi, lahat na (ata) ng panlalait naransan ko.” Iwa apparently did not expect that one day she’d be so popular. “Why not! Pero di nila alam jologs pala ako,” she jokingly commented. One of the Boys The pretty chinita stressed that she’s always been one of the boys and pretty much hasn’t changed her ways. “Mas madalas, kasama ko lalaki (at mga) boyish girl. Hindi ako mahilig sumama sa mga girly girls.” She explains that she doesn’t join the kikay crowd, simply because she can’t get along with what they’re into “Di lang ako maka-ride (sa gusto nila), di ako maarte eh.” While some need to follow a strict fitness regimen to keep their weight, maintaining a slim figure is easy for this teenager. Iwa could well be one of the few individuals blessed with a fast metabolism. “Mabilis ako pumayat. That’s a good thing about me, basta mag diet (ako) tapos konting exercise, ok na ko,” she shared. Still, she isn’t one to binge on food and is very conscious of what she eats. Whenever someone tells her that she’s gained weight, she says that she gets tense and watches her diet. In fact, for her sexy magazine pictorials, she admitted that she prepared for them through exercise and a healthy diet. “Last time na nag-pose ako sa isang sexy magazine last December pa ‘yun, ayun nag-diet ako pero after noon pinabayaan ko na.” Katrina vs. Iwa As one of today’s sexy young stars, it’s not unusual for her to be compared to last year’s FHM Philippines’ top cover girl Katrina Halili. What does she have to say about their supposed rivalry? “Nakaka-tense noh, hello! Kalahati lang ng katawan ko si Ate Kat!” Although she feels honored to be compared to Katrina, she chooses not to compete. “Katrina Halili is Katrina Halili and Iwa Moto is always going to be Iwa Moto, kasi we have our own personality naman eh”. The two stars have not worked together on a project, and Iwa is looking forward to the day when this happens. Still, would she be willing to do a magazine spread with the StarStruck 1 Avenger? “Bakit hindi? It always depend on the pegs, the people around me, saka ‘yung Artist Center,” which handles her career.
