Clad in a pink robe thrown over lingerie (possibly used for a scene), Angel Locsin took a break from shooting the final sequences of The Promise to talk about a milestone in her acting career: doing a love scene. Text by Jillian Q. Gatcheco. Photos by Mitch S. Mauricio.
The love scenes are a first for both Angel and her co-star Richard’s. Prior to this project, their romantic moments were comprised of kissing scenes. This time, they step out of their comfort zones to film something more mature and more intimate. “‘Yung first love scene, sa Pangasinan, sa may light house. ‘Yung unang love scene kasi, mas bata ‘yung dating, siyempre ‘yun ‘yung first time kunwari.

And the big question is: how did it feel while they were filming?
It also helped that the production crew, under Director Mike Tuviera’s instructions, shot the intimate moments in a closed set. Very few people were allowed to be on hand, creating a more private setting for the shoot.

Right after shooting the scenes, everything was back to normal. “We were all joking about it, and siyempre by then, they were relaxed, and of course, si Angel is very, very demanding on herself. So she would always say, ‘Are you sure, Direk, are you happy with what you got? Do you want another one?’ Angel’s very serious, and then Chard, ‘Ang pangit, let’s do another one! Let’s do it again...and again...and again!’ So they respond differently to the same emotion. But after the scene they were very happy.”
