The animated documentary film of GMA Pictures and GMA Public Affairs, 58th, is set to make its Philippine premiere at the 2026 Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival this August.
In an Instagram post, GMA Pictures announced that the animated documentary will premiere locally at Cinemalaya 2026 on August 13, Thursday, 8:30 p.m., at the Shangri-La Plaza Red Carpet Premiere Theater & Cinema 1.
GMA Pictures wrote in the caption, “58th-Carl Papa's animated documentary about the world's deadliest attack on journalists-makes its Philippine premiere at this year's Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival.”
Directed by Carl Joseph Papa, 58th recounts the Maguindanao Massacre through Reynaldo “Bebot” Momay, recognized as its 58th victim.
The film stars Glaiza de Castro, who plays Momay's daughter, Reynafe Castillo, alongside the late Ricky Davao, who portrayed Reynaldo Momay. Mikoy Morales, Marco Masa, Zyren Dela Cruz, and Biboy Ramirez are also part of the animated documentary's cast.
Last January, 58th had its world premiere at the 2026 International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR), which Glaiza attended. It served as the first GMA Network film to be screened at the IFFR.
The documentary was also selected for the Annecy International Animation Film Festival 2026.
