Sparkle stars Anjay Anson and Kirsten Gonzales were among the participants in the tree growing activity held in Quezon City today, November 25.

In celebration of National Environment Awareness Month in the country, Nestle Philippines, together with GMA Network, held a tree growing activity in Quezon City today, November 25.

This is also a part of Nestle's worldwide reforestation initiative to plant 200 million trees globally by year 2030.

Among the participants of this momentous event were volunteer employees from both companies, including Sparkle artists Anjay Anson and Kirsten Gonzales.

In an interview with GMANetwork.com, the Kapuso stars felt honored and blessed to be part of the event, where they had the opportunity to plant bamboo clumps and narra plantlets.

Kirsten shared, “I feel very honored and happy kasi since this is my dream to be part of this event, to be able to help, I feel very honored po and thankful na GMA gave me this chance na maka-help sa environment.”

“I feel blessed also na part ako sa event na ito kasi first time ko magtanim. 'Yung na-experience ko ngayon, I think madami pa akong itatanim na puno in the future,” Anjay said.

The two also learned valuable lessons from the said activity such as learning how to plant a tree and using social media as a platform to inspire and influence many people to help protect the environment.

“Noong una, nagulat ako kasi I thought planting trees is difficult. Akala ko mahirap siya pero naturuan naman kami with the help of the Kasambuhay ng Kalikasan. Tinuruan naman kami kung paano mag-plant ng trees and madali naman siya,” Anjay shared. "For sure, malaki 'yung magiging effect nito sa environment din natin.”

Meanwhile, Kirsten said, “Ang natutunan ko is using my platform to influence other people and the youth na gawin din 'yung makakabuti sa atin. Doing one thing by yourself is a good thing pero if you share it with other people, mas makakarami ka ng tulong and then other people can influence other people rin.

“I hope in the future magkaroon tayo ng more trees and then marami pong makaka-experience ng tree planting.”
