The unfortunate news was confirmed by Armida's niece, Katrina Ponce-Enrile.

DZBB reporter Nimfa Ravelo posted on Twitter a message from Katrina, “We were all saddened upon learning about Tita Armida's passing but comforted by the fact that Tita Armida went peacefully.

“I had to break the news to my Dad. He was quiet for a long time and said we have to all prays for Tita Armida. Paulit ulit niyang sinasabi sa akin 'yun. We will miss her very much.”

Meanwhile, Armida's son, actor-director Carlos Siguion-Reyna, chose to relive her memory through a beautiful photo.

The entertainment industry is mourning the passing of the veteran actress and former Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) chairwoman.

Armida Siguion-Reyna was always a formidable force in the entertainment industry. I had the honor of working with her in what I think was her last feature film, Bwakaw. She portrayed a woman with Alzheimer's but she was never truly helpless. In the end, she proved to be in control when she tells Rene (Eddie Garcia) to stop visiting her in the nursing home. I will always remember her for the all the powerful women she played onscreen and all the times she fought for the industry and the arts in general. Bravo, Tita Midz. Be with the angels now and let your legacy continue to inspire Filipino artists for generations to come.
