Arra San Agustin

From a self-confessed introvert, what made Arra San Agustin come out of her shell? Read on:

It's hard to picture actress Arra San Agustin as the shy type when you've seen her acting side by side seasoned and veteran actors or performing a song or dance number on stage with a big crowd watching.

But in an exclusive interview with GMA Lifestyle, Arra shared that side of her that not too many people knew about.

“I'm a shy girl and an introvert,” opens the 25-year-old actress when asked about how she would describe her personality.

Though Arra admits being reserved, she is quick to relate that she is not aloof for she likes talking to people while still maintaining her privacy.

“'Yung mga shine-share ko ay 'yung mga willing lang din talaga ako i-share,” she said.

Proud introvert

Growing up, Arra recalled that she had always been timid and there has never been a time when she regretted being one. She never hated or questioned herself for it as well.

Arra's shy personality, however, gave her a “supladita” image from others who don't personally know her and even those who are still in the course of knowing her.

“For them, 'yung ibang mga tao, 'yung mga bago pa lang akong nakikilala, akala nila parang supladita, kasi mahiyain talaga ako. Like, in person, mahiyain talga ako,” she clarified.

Challenge accepted

When Arra went to college, she began to wonder to herself why she's not very sociable and outgoing. It was her friends who have helped develop her social skills.

“Natutunan ko na lang na medyo mas ma-develop 'yung social skills ko noong college kasi dahil sa mga kaibigan ko, kapag ini-invite nila ako. Mas na-expand yung network ko noong college,” she said.

But what really pushed Arra to open up was her journey in the reality-based artista search program StarStruck.

“Dahil nga ito 'yung craft na pinili ko, tapos sobrang opposing siya doon sa personality ko na napaka-shy type ko, mas na-challenge ako.

“And, instead of mainis ako sa sarili ko, mas na-challenge ako para ma-develop ko 'yung area na 'yun sa akin,” she said.

Arra is now at the point of her life where she finds balance in her personality. Thanks to her unwavering patience and a positive mindset, she is thriving in a people-oriented career like showbusiness!
