In art, beauty is in the eye of the beholder - even if there's nothing to see.
Italian contemporary artist Salvatore Garau proved just that when his invisible sculpture titled, “I Am,” sold for 15,000 Euros or P874,000.
“The vacuum is nothing more than a space full of energy, and even if we empty it and there is nothing left, according to the Heisenberg uncertainty principle, that 'nothing' has a weight,” Salvatore told Newsweek about the art piece.
“Therefore, it has energy that is condensed and transformed into particles, that is, into us.”
The buyer will get a certificate of authentication with a stamp and Salvatore's signature as proof of purchase and ownership.
Part of the condition is for the buyer to display the unseen sculpture in an unobstructed space of about 150x150 cm and in a private home.
Salvatore creates non-physical sculptures as well as actual art pieces. This, however, is the first time that he has sold one of his unseen creations.
