Ashley Ortega said she is still working to rebuild the relationship with her mom, whom she has not talked to in three years.
It's been more than two months since Ashley Ortega was evicted from the iconic Pinoy Big Brother house, but the Kapuso star admits that she has not been able to patch things up with her mother since she was released into the outside world.
Ashley revealed the current status of her relationship with her mother in an interview with Aubrey Carampel aired during 24 Oras on Friday, June 21.
“Honestly, we're still working on it. Sobrang tagal din kasi ng three years na hindi pag-uusap and malalim din 'yung sugat na nabigay namin sa isa't isa. But I'm always reaching out. Pero baka need time pa,” she shared, at one point even tearing up.
Ashley also said that her mother has not tried reaching out to her since her eviction from the Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Collab Edition.
“I tried po talaga, kakalabas ko lang, kasi nakatanggap rin naman po ako ng letter sa kaniya. Also on Mother's Day, I tried. I messaged her,” she said.

Ashley first talked about reaching out to her mom during her guest appearance on Fast Talk with Boy Abunda, where the King of Talk pressed her about her relationship with her mother.
“Two days after the eviction night, I went to the house. Wala kasi sila mommy doon. But I left flowers and I texted her also. She hasn't responded,” she shared at the time.
Ashley also admitted that she played a part in the rift between her and her mother during her interview with Boy Abunda.
“Maraming pinanggalingan but of course, at the end of the day, alam kong meron din akong pagkakamali. It's more of as I get older, my mom gets stricter,” she said. “I wanted to grow, I wanted to learn and make decisions on my own. Doon nanggaling 'yun eh. I wanted to have the freedom to decide for myself. Doon nagsimula 'yun.”

Ashley isn't the only housemate who felt emotional about their mother. Last month, Will Ashley, was driven to tears of joy by a letter from his mother that expressed how proud she was of him.
“Tears of joy po talaga, Kuya. Sobrang sarap po sa pakiramdam, Kuya, na mabasa ko 'yung letter galing sa mom ko. Sobrang na-miss ko lang 'yung ganong moment kahit na po sa letter, naramdaman ko po na magkausap lang kami,” he shared.
