Arohas looking forward to seeing ASTRO member MJ doing promotional activities may have to wait a little longer as the singer will be taking a hiatus to address some health concerns.
The announcement was made by MJ's agency, Fantagio, over the weekend.
Read the statement below.
“Hello.
This is Fantagio.
We would like to thank the AROHA who always give ASTRO their unsparing love as we make an announcement regarding member MJ temporarily halting activities.
During his recent promotions, ASTRO's MJ noticed issues with his health, and so he went to the hospital for an in-depth checkup. In keeping with his doctor's opinion that [MJ] needs sufficient rest and treatment, we have decided that he will be temporarily halting all activities.
For the moment, MJ will be focusing entirely on his recovery and treatment during his hiatus, and he plans to temporarily halt all activities until he recovers his health.
We ask for your generous understanding about the fact that we have decided on a temporary hiatus from activities for the sake of healthier activities in the future. We consider the health of our artists our top priority, and we will do our utmost to try and help our artist recover quickly.
Thank you.”
This is not the first time that a member of ASTRO has had to temporarily halt activities due to health issues. Back in September of last year, the group had to halt promotional activities after member Jinjin tested positive for COVID-19.
COVID-19, in particular, has resulted in a number of K-pop artists having to cancel scheduled activities. Last week, Brave Girls member Yuna also had to cancel activities after testing positive for COVID-19.
Last year, BTS members RM, Jin, and Suga, had tested positive for COVID-19 as well. RM and Jin recovered from COVID-19 early in January, just a day after fellow band member Suga announced his own full recovery from the disease.
Last year, BLACKPINK member Lisa Manoban also tested positive for COVID-19, while the other three members did not.
