Ate Gay

Ate Gay feels hopeful after the positive effects of his initial treatment.

Comedian Gil Aducal Morales, popularly known as Ate Gay, continues his battle against mucoepidermoid carcinoma, a type of cancer affecting the salivary glands.

But amid ongoing treatment, Ate Gay recently received what he calls a miracle. His tumor has shrunk from 10 centimeters to 8.5 centimeters after just a few days of chemotherapy.

"Four days pa lang na radiation eh ang ganda-ganda na ng nararamdaman ko. Wala na. Halos isang kilong laman, wala na yata dito. Wala na eh, as in tapal na lang siya eh," Ate Gay said in Nelson Canlas' report.

The comedian shared that his fight is far from over, with 35 days of radiation and five chemotherapy sessions scheduled. Still, he expressed immense gratitude for the positive effects of his initial treatment.

"Umiiyak ako dahil masaya ako, hindi sa malungkot, ha. Napakasuwerte ko sa mga anghel ko. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Ang suwerte-suwerte ko," he added.

Spreading hope to other cancer patients, Ate Gay voiced his wish for more accessible healthcare.

"Sana may mga libre na radiation at saka chemo na hindi lang tayo kakapit sa suwerte," he said.

Now embracing what he calls his 'second life,' Ate Gay promised to focus more on his faith and health.

"Minsan nakakalimutan kong magdasal. Naging nakakalimot akong magsimba. 'Pag natutulog ako, do'n lang ako nagdadasal, dapat pala oras-oras, lagi-lagi, lahat ng ginagawa mo, ipagdadasal. 'Yon ang natutunan ko dito. At saka 'wag pababayaan ang sarili. Health is wealth," he reflected.

Last September, Ate Gay revealed his Stage IV cancer diagnosis and thanked his sponsors and supporters who helped him afford treatment.

He also expressed appreciation to a fan who helped him find a place to stay in Alabang, close to the hospital where he continues his therapy.
