The ultimate pop punk crossover is on its way, as Avril Lavigne and Simple Plan are set to drop a new song together!

On Instagram, the pop punk icon announced a new track titled “Young and Dumb” with the OG 2000s rock band, which will be produced by John Feldmann.

"LET'S RELEASE A NEW SONG FOR THE TOUR!!!" Avril began.

"Last year's Greatest Hits Tour was so f*ckin' incredible that we extended it into this year for another round this summer. So…. I really wanted to drop a new song in time for the tour for you all," she excitedly announced.

She shared that it was a “full circle moment,” having a tour with Simple Plan last year, and even earlier, during her first arena tour in 2003 for her debut album Let Go.

Avril revealed that she and the rock band want listeners to feel the "nostalgic feelings of this unique moment in our lives when we were both just starting out and chasing our dreams."

"We wanted our fans to know that in our hearts, we're still the same kids we were back then and that our love for music has never changed," she explained.

She added, "This song is about our friendship and how music has kept us connected all these years. The song is about feeling nostalgic, while loving where you are right now."

The singer-songwriter also took a moment to thank those who attended her shows last summer, saying they were dedicated to the fans who've been with her and the band for the past 20 years.

"To everyone who's ready to wake up the punk rock kid that's still inside you, ready to live your best life and sing your heart out," she expressed.

"I can't wait to play it for you every night this summer," she ended her lengthy post.

"Young and Dumb" will be available on May 9.

Avril previously released her latest album, Love Sux (Deluxe), in 2022.
