
Kids and parents are all too familiar with the famous children's song “Baby Shark,” and the young boy who starred in Pinkfong's viral dance video of the song, Park Geonroung. Now that he's 17, he's stepping back into the limelight, but this time, with his own song as a K-Pop artist.
On Instagram, Geonroung has been posting several photos and videos of Baby Shark and himself, revealing that they have “big news” to share. On a separate post, the Korean star shared a YouTube profile of Baby Shark Boy with two teaser videos for a music video of “WAVE.”
Geonroung will release his first digital single “WAVE” on August 20 under the stage name Baby Shark Boy. The Korean track will also feature Joohoney of the Korean boy group Monsta X.

While the children's song might've pushed Geonroung towards the limelight in 2016 in a fun, colorful way. This time, people will hear a different side of him, while still retaining more of the children's song that made him famous.
Reports say "WAVE" will be about the strange experience of returning on stage 10 years after being out of the limelight. The teaser also gives a wave of nostalgia to longtime listeners as it incorporates the instantly recognizable hook of the "Baby Shark" song, before introducing Geonroung's vocals.
While “WAVE” might be the introduction of Geonroung to K-Pop, The Pinkfong Company clarifies that the song is its first artist-focused project, and while it is a one-off release for now, future projects will depend on the response of the audience to the new song.
For now, Geonroung is focused on reintroducing himself apart from the viral video that made him famous.
