Balita at Kwentong Bakla or Balakubak for short is no doubt the most watched segment of “Nuts Entertainment.” Known for their controversial questions, the Balakubak hosts spice up our Saturday evenings with a no-holds barred interview of their guests. Text by Loretta G. Ramirez. Photos by Mitch S. Mauricio. Throughout the years, the wacky trio of Janno Gibbs, Anjo Yllana, and Joey de Leon has been giving us something to look forward to on our Saturday nights. Whether it's their controversial guests or their naughty questions, somehow they manage to give us an unforgettable show every single time. A tried and tested formula starsRecently iGMA went to the taping of Nuts Entertainment to get updates from the show. We noticed that aside from a few minor changes in the set and more fashionable clothes, the Balakubak portion still stayed the same. As it is na-e-enjoy mo na eh. Kung ano 'yung tinatanong namin,” explains Janno Gibbs a.k.a Lollipop. He adds that the viewers appreciate and look forward to the questions that they ask and, of course, the fascinating "Bulungan" portion, though no one knows what they actually ask their guests. Laglagan na! Another charm that the Balakubak hosts seem to have is their ability to put each other in a compromising position; usually, the bulk of their jokes are directed to Janno Gibbs. He also explains that he really doesn’t mind all this because Doughnut (Joey de Leon) and Popsicle (Anjo Yllana) know where to draw the line. No scripts Probably one of the secrets of this portion is the fact that they do not have any scripts to follow. Everything is spontaneous, which makes it funnier and more enjoyable to watch. stars“Ang nangyayari parang impromptu eh, kung ano yung magiging sitwasyon [mina- match namin sa guest namin] at actually wala naman kaming script na sinusunod," shares John Feir, more popularly known as Belli Flori, one of the co-hosts in Balakubak. Truly, the Balakubak portion of Nuts Entertainment is a stroke of genius. With great comedians at its helm, no doubt this segment will outlast a number of shows on television today.
