Barbie Forteza talked about the thrill and enjoyment she feels whenever she gets to play a kontrabida or complex role in an episode of TRGGRD!, the podcast of ATM (Adventure. Taste. Moments).

The Kapuso Primetime Princess joined fellow Sparkle stars Vince Maristela, Jeff Moses, Sean Lucas, and Haley Dizon in talking about portraying different roles and characters.

While Barbie highlighted that playing either bida or kontrabida roles is challenging, she said she really enjoyed the experience of portraying kontrabida roles.

“Maybe because it's something new for me, so parang hindi siya pamilyar sa'kin. Hindi ako sanay, so 'nung na-try ko, na-enjoy ko siya,” Barbie explained.

Barbie added that she gets adrenaline and happiness whenever she plays complex characters since it's a new experience for her.

The Sparkle actress also talked about how, in her earlier days, she felt like she was limited to playing the “goody-goody” characters.

“Siguro mas nakahon ako sa mga mababait na roles. Mas 'yung mga goody-goody. 'Yung mga ikaw 'yung laging umiiyak, ikaw 'yung laging sinasabutan, sinasampal ganyan, kinukulong sa kwarto, 'yung mga ganun. Mas 'dun I think more than the 'pa-cute' na roles,” Barbie continued.

Barbie also shared how she personally thinks maturity as an actor isn't based on the age of the character one plays.

“I think it depends and nagbabase siya sa maturity mo as an actor, how you take on roles, no matter how aged or kung anong klaseng role 'yan. I think 'yung type of pag-aaral mo 'dun sa character, mas 'dun matetest 'yung maturity mo as an actor,” she said.
