One year after her death, the late Taiwanese singer and actress Barbie Hsu was honored with the unveiling of a statue dedicated to her at her final resting place in New Taipei.
The ceremony was held on Monday at Chin Pao San, a private cemetery, and was conducted by Hsu's mother, lovingly referred to as “S Mom,” and her South Korean husband, musician Koo Jun-yup or DJ Koo. The closest family members were in attendance, including Hsu's younger sister, talk show host Dee Hsu (徐熙娣), who quietly gathered around the statue.
The statue, designed by DJ Koo, consists of nine surrounding cubes, which he revealed were intended to symbolize the nine planets. The statue is positioned to face south, towards Taipei, where Hsu's family is based.
Digital creator and artist Lee Chen Dao also shared photos from the statue's site.
Barbie Hsu passed away on February 2, 2025, due to pneumonia caused by complications from influenza.
The ceremony was a representation of a moment of remembrance and love, held one year after Barbie's passing, and in celebration of her legacy that lives on in the hearts of those closest to her.
