A past interview with Kris Aquino shows Barbie Hsu in her 20s imagining what her life would've been at age 50.

Recent news of Taiwanese actress Barbie Hsu's passing at age 48 has fans mourning the Meteor Garden's lead star's demise.

A past interview from 2003 of Barbie with her sister Dee Hsu during their visit to the Philippines has resurfaced.

In the sit down interview with Kris Aquino, the Hsu sisters answered slam book type interview questions. Among the questions was how they pictured themselves at 50 years old.

Kris asked, "What do you want to be when you're 50 years old?"

Dee was first to answer, "A happy woman, [have] grandchildren, a husband, [and become] grandma and granddad."

When asked if Dee wanted to have a business, she quipped, "No, I want to be a lazy but rich girl," drawing laughter from the audience.

Meanwhile, Barbie answered, "I want to be shopping queen," a then 27-year-old Barbie said.

Kris followed up with a question, "At 50, do you think you'll still be in show business or you'll be retiring already?"

Barbie replied, "Maybe I'll be a grandma, and have many children."

She also revealed how many kids she wanted. "Maybe two or three [children]. But they will have children too," Barbie said, mentioning she wanted a big family.

The interview hit differently after news broke of Barbie's passing, which was confirmed by Dee on February 3.

In a statement shared to Taiwanese media, Dee revealed Barbie and their family were in Japan to celebrate Lunar New Year. Barbie had a flu that progressed into pneumonia and this led to her untimely passing.

A statement shared by Focus Taiwan reads, "Our whole family came to Japan for a trip, and my dearest and most kindhearted sister Barbie Hsu died of influenza-induced pneumonia and unfortunately left us," Dee said.

"I was grateful to be her sister in this life and that we got to care for and spend time with each other. I will always be grateful to her and miss her."

She reportedly had a history of epilepsy and heart disease, according to a report from BBC.

Barbie was popularly known for her role as Shan Chai in Meteor Garden, the Taiwanese adaptation of Japanese manga Boys Over Flowers. She also starred in Eternity: A Chinese Ghost Story, Mars, Corner with Love, and Summer's Desire.

Though she officially retired from acting in 2011 after tying knot with Chinese businessman Wang Xiaofei, she remained active in advertisements and variety shows. They have two children, a daughter born in 2014 and a son born in 2016. The couple divorced in 2011, and in 2022, Barbie reunited and married former boyfriend DJ Koo, whom she dated in 1998.
