Barry Keoghan left Instagram on December 7, days after reports confirmed he and popstar Sabrina Carpenter have called it quits after a year of dating.
Shortly before deactivating his Instagram @keoghan92, the Oscar-nominated actor posted a gym mirror selfie and his new blonde hairstyle through his Instagram Story.
Hours later, the account was deleted. Meanwhile, his X (formerly Twitter) and TikTok accounts are still active.
Just this week, an exclusive report from People confirms the pair have gone their separate ways.
"They are both young and career-focused, so they've decided to take a break," says the People report.
The Saltburn actor and Grammy-award winning singer first crossed paths during the Givenchy show in Paris Fashion Week in September 2023. Dating rumors sparked after the two were spotted in Los Angeles in December 2023.
Keoghan was seen supporting Carpenter during her Coachella performance in April 2024 and was featured in the singer's "Please, Please, Please" music video in June.
Keoghan also released a statement regarding their breakup through X on Sunday, addressing the negative messages he has been receiving since the breakup.
The actor explained that despite usually not responding to rumors about him on the Internet, "there are too many lines being crossed" this time.
"The messages I have received no person should ever have to read. Absolute lies, hatred, disgusting commentary about my appearance, character, how I am as a parent and every other inhumane thing you can imagine," Keoghan said.
"Dragging my character and everything I worked extremely hard for and stand for. Talking about how I was a heroine baby and how I grew up and dragging my dear mother into it also. Knocking on my grannies door. Sitting outside my baby boy's house intimidating them," he added.
Keoghan mentioned he is focusing on Brando, his two-year-old son from a previous relationship with Alyson Sandro Kierans.
"Each and every day I work harder to push myself on every level to be the healthiest and strongest person for that boy. I want to provide opportunities for him to learn, fail and grow. I want him to be able to look up to his daddy, to have full trust in me and know I will have his back no matter what," he said.
"I need you to remember he has to read all of this about his father when he is older. Please be respectful to all. Thank [you]."
Please be respectful
