Miss Universe Philippines 2021 Beatrice Luigi Gomez finally finished college with a degree in mass communication after years of attempting to get her diploma while attending to her pageantry and showbiz commitments.
The 27-year-old beauty queen graduated from the University of San Jose-Recoletos in Cebu as the Most Outstanding graduate of her batch, according to her Instagram post on Saturday, July 23.
In the same post, Beatrice shared her official graduation photos, as well as her photos in her graduation cap and gown at the stage and her medal and diploma.
“Explore this earth not seeking paths but instead making your own…," she began her caption, sharing a line from her speech during the university's Expanded Tertiary Education, Equivalency and Accreditation Program (ETEEAP) commencement exercises yesterday.
Beatrice continued her caption by looking back at her past achievements before earning her college diploma.
She said, "After years of attempting to get my degree in Mass Communication I finally completed my program, finishing as the Most Outstanding graduate of our batch.
"From winning Binibining Cebu in 2020, to completing my Basic Citizen Military Training, winning Miss Universe Philippines, finishing Top 5 at the 70th Miss Universe competition in Israel in 2021, to finally getting my degree yesterday, it's been years of achieving milestone after milestone.
"Looking back I can never believe how I made it way past every challenge. God walked me through each and every step without a doubt and I have faith that if it was possible for me then it is for you too."
The Cebuana beauty also thanked the people who guided her through her tertiary education.
She went on, "I would not have been able to reach the peak of this journey without the persistent guidance and support of the ETEEAP family headed by Dr. Adela Catipay, Dr. Irene Pia, Dr. Mila Caballero, the Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences, Dr. Glenn Pajares, my late adviser Dr. Jun Velez, Rev. Fr. Cristopher Maspara, Rev. Fr. Leo Alaras, and the rest of the OAR Fathers. I am also grateful to my family and friends for the love and support, Atty. Elaine T. Bathan, Sir Jessie Perez, and my Mama Ping and Ate Louise.
"Until my next milestone… a Jaguar continues to move forward.
"Adelante (forward)!"
Beatrice was the second person to be crowned Miss Universe Philippines under the organizing body. The title was passed onto her by her predecessor, Rabiya Mateo.
Beatrice represented the country at the Miss Universe 2021 pageant in Eilat, Israel in December 2021, finishing as top five finalist.
