Silent Sanctuary

From small-time gigs to their first-ever sold-out major arena concert in 24 years, Silent Sanctuary remains a beloved OPM band until today.

Before the so-called "yearning" songs popular with Gen Zs, Filipino millennials grew up hearing "senti" hits on the stereo that defined the early to late 2000s music scene. Silent Sanctuary, originally formed in 2001, made it to the forefront of Pinoy rock with love songs and heartbreak anthems such as “Ikaw Lamang,” “Kundiman,” “Sa'yo” and “Bumalik Ka Na Sa'kin.”

As they celebrate their "24 years of songs," Silent Sanctuary marked a milestone in their career when Gabi Ng Lambing immediately sell out after five hours of going on sale on June 25. In their media con, the band expressed their surprise at receiving such overwhelming support and admitted how anxious they had been about the possible turnout of the ticket selling.

Silent Sanctuary vocalist and guitarist Raymund “Sarkie” Sarangay shared their secret to longevity: “Kailangan mong mahalin 'yung craft n'yo, 'yung music, 'yung trabaho n'yo. 'Di kami tumitigil na ma-inspire kasi importante 'yung inspiration sa paggawa ng kanta. At siyempre 'yung dedication din, 'yun 'yung pinakaimportante.”

Their music, filled with longing lyrics, nostalgic melodies, and emotional strings driving their ballads, has resonated to many, especially the "titos and titas of Manila."

The six-piece band is no stranger to ups and downs, misunderstandings, and members leaving. Through it all, they remain grateful to all the blessings, recalling performing at almost-empty venues.

“Kahit maliit na bagay na tumugtog kami sa isang bar na may 10 na nanood, masaya na kami doon,” said cellist Anjo Inacay. “Minsan, may dalawang nanonood. Hindi namin ma-imagine na umabot tayo sa ganito.”

Being an established OPM band, it might be a surprise to many that this would be Silent Sanctuary's first-ever major concert. Gabi Ng Lambing was supposed to be a one-night only concert on October 25, 2026 at the Mall of Asia Arena, but fans who failed to secure tickets eagerly demanded a second show. Their wishes were granted when, two weeks later, Gabi Ng Lambing day 2 called Reverse was announced, scheduled for October 24 at the same venue.

In an interview with ATM Live, Silent Sanctuary said fans should bring their feelings to the concert as they are set to perform 30 of their fan-favorite songs and deep cuts with The Manila Symphony Orchestra and Viva Voce.

As part of their vision, the band is preparing new arrangements that fuse classical music with OPM for their show, highlighting the string instruments that have become the defining element of their musical identity.

Gabi Ng Lambing is Silent Sanctuary's first-ever solo arena concert of their career. It happens on October 24 and 26, 2026 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.
