Jam Villanueva

Ben&Ben Drummer Jam Villanueva announced that 2026 will be her final year in the band.

Last Thursday, December 11, Jam shared an emotional update in a video posted across the band's social media accounts, reflecting on her eight years with the nine-piece ensemble and the personal journey that led to her decision.

In her heartfelt message, she shared the story of her love for music, tracing it from her childhood up to the moment she joined Ben&Ben, which she said became a massive chapter in her life.

“Ever since I was a kid, I always wanted to play music. I knew it as early as grade school. I kept following this path and took up a music business course for college, because I couldn't see myself doing anything else. I joined a band, played with different artists, joined other bands and eventually ended up meeting and jamming with eight other amazing human beings,” told Jam.

“This was the start of the biggest, craziest in a good way, most fun, and most surreal part of my life,” she added.

She also cited two significant life events that "developed and strengthened" her values and "redefined the life" she sees for herself.

"In 2024, I got married. And in April 2025, I injured my wrist. These two events have developed and strengthened my values and in turn, redefined the life I see myself living," Jam said.

Jam also dedicated a portion of her message to thank the band's fervent fan base, the Liwanags. She reflected on the "power of community," noting how the collective love for their music has carried them to “the furthest places and the most unexpected stages.”

“I also saw the power of community. You, Liwanag, and how the collective love and appreciation for one thing, our music, can bring it to the furthest places and the most unexpected stages. Words can never express how deep my gratitude is for everyone on our team, collaborators, and every single person who listens and connects with our music,” she said.

In the latter part of the video, Jam confirmed her departure: "There's no easy way to say this. Next year, 2026, will be my last year with the band.”

She continued by saying: "Yes, ako yung saranggola. And just like the song the greatest and the most important part of all of this is the friendships and relationships I've gained through it all."

Jam assured their fans, the 'Liwanags', that she would remain fully committed for all of 2026. She encouraged them to come to the final shows, which she promised would be a fun and memorable one.
