Benjamin Alves nominated in Asean International Film Festival and Awards

'Magandang Dilag' star Benjamin Alves is nominated for the Best Supporting Actor award for his portrayal in the 2022 Cinemalaya movie, 'Angkas,' at the Asean International Film Festival & Awards based in Kuching, Malaysia.

Benjamin Alves is reaping the fruits of his labor as he gets his first acting nomination after being in the entertainment industry for more than 10 years.

The Magandang Dilag star is nominated as Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal in the 2022 Cinemalaya movie, Angkas, at the Asean International Film Festival & Awards based in Kuching, Malaysia. Angkas was initially set to be screened as a full-length film in the local indie film fest in 2020 but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

On Thursday, August 3, he announced the good news on his Instagram account, alongside his photos attending the festival pre-activities with colleagues like Angkas director Rain Yamson II, actors Coleen Garcia, Andrew Ramsay, and Tommy Alejandrino, and director Louie Ignacio. The post also showed a screenshot of the nominees for the Best Supporting Actor award, containing Benjamin's name.

The Kapuso actor wrote, "My first acting nomination! ❤️

"After 11 years, it does feel good that somehow you're being noticed. Thank you to @aiffa_official for the nomination.

"It was already a pleasure just being invited to attend the festival.

To all the nominees for the Philippines, MABUHAY! 🎥 🇵🇭"
