Bettina Carlos on giving birth prematurely: “I had to surrender that to the Lord.”

Former Idol sa Kusina host Bettina Carlos shared her birthing experience with her twin boys Juanito Miguel and Antonio Davide on Instagram.

Mommy Bettina admitted that her twins were born prematurely and had to give birth two weeks in advance.

According to mayoclinic.org, premature babies often have serious health problems, especially when they are born very early. These problems often vary. But the earlier a baby is born, the higher the risk of health challenges.

Recalling what happened prior to the arrival of her boys, Bettina wrote, “We set our twins' delivery date to June 14 (36weeks), the date Mikki and I first met. It would have been a romantic choice, one that has a sweet backstory. But then God had a different plan.

During our routine NST on June 3, there was a deceleration that led us to retake the test the following day. When we did, there was no deceleration and heart variability was good but towards the last 3 seconds of the 20-minute test I suddenly had a contraction- the first one I ever felt my whole life (I was CS with all my previous pregnancies)! So our OB ordered immediate admission for observation. Upon settling in the room, she did an IE and said I was 1cm already. Right then and there Mikki and I decided to have the boys delivered that same night.

“Funny because it was only the day before when we finally decided on their names. Nagjojoke pa kami “O pwede na tayo manganak may pangalan na.” True enough…”

Knowing the risk of giving birth prematurely, Bettina said that she surrendered to the Lord's plan even if her twin boys will have to stay at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit for a while.

Bettina continued, “I know the Lord prepared my heart for that too- that anytime He may want to deliver our children- who are ultimately His' and whose lives are in His hands. I wanted to fight for 36weeks (and the date I like) but I know I can't live another day worrying something may be going on inside with them.

“I had to surrender that to the Lord. Whether 36 or 34, His timing is perfect to carry out His purposes. So there was peace despite it being an emergency CS and yes even knowing our boys will be premies and will have to stay however long at the NICU…”

“Why 34weeks, Lord? I don't know. I still don't know till today. All I am sure of is 1.) God is sovereign and 2.) He is good. So I could rest peacefully not having answers to my why. On June 4, at 8:49pm and 8:51pm our boys Juanito Miguel and Antonino Davide, God's grace and gifts to us, our precious ones were born. Welcome home, sons. We have long waited to be with you two.

Bettina already has a daughter named Amina (born in 2022) with her husband Mikki Eduardo. They have been married since August 2020.

Meanwhile, Amanda or Gummy is her daughter from an ex-partner.
