Here, Bettinna revealed the story behind her cancer scare, how she went through it, and the realization she had that made her decide why 2016 was her best year.

"From June to August I fell ill. I was in and out of the hospital for a series of blood works, check ups and even biopsy—at one point the doctors considered the possibility of having me checked for the Big C (cancer). At that time I could neither do tapings nor bake. And the fact that I had eight different doctors and they could not put their finger on what was wrong with me put me in much more agony."

According to her article, Bettinna couldn't stand up because of the lumps on the soles of her feet. She also had suspicious nodes on her left axilla which caused discomfort as she raise her hands.

At that time, Bettinna disclosed that she was suffering in silence thinking about her daughter, Gummy. She even surrendered full control of her life and her daughter's life to Him.

The Idol sa Kusina sous chef added that the Lord made her realize to slow down on work and focus on healing and being a parent. She discussed, "He asked me to let go of a great-paying job as an act of faith in obedience to Him. In exchange for physical recuperation, rest for my soul and more time for Gummy to focus on my calling as a parent."

Bettinna admitted that she shocked many by her decision to slow down before she hit 30 years old. However, it gave her peace.

"I start this year with the message I closed with last year with hopes that you keep this perspective as you face difficulties: Every pain has a purpose. Our suffering will make us stronger."
