Gardo Versoza started out in show business as a sexy actor. With movies like
Machete II, Halik, Halimuyak ng Babae and
Kirot, he has been associated with the sexy movies of the ‘90s. Moving on to more serious roles in the latter part of his career, he has tried different genres and has even starred in the critically acclaimed movie
Rizal where he played Andres Bonifacio.
As an actor, he has nothing else to prove. Quite busy with television shows nowadays, iGMA asked him where he wants to go after acting.
Behind the camera
Having been in the business for almost 20 years, Gardo has definitely fallen in love with his craft. He has confessed that he will continue to be in showbiz for as long as there are people who want to watch him perform. However, he shared with iGMA that he has plans of working behind the camera soon.

“Nag-aaral ako ngayon ng directing. Dati ang professor ko si Joven Velasco, pero wala na siya, namatay na siya. So ngayon sa libro-libro na lang at sa Internet,” admits this seasoned actor.
He adds that he wants to direct a documentary and a sexy gay movie where he would like to handle veteran actors rather than newbies in the business.
“Kung ako ang papipiliin, mas gusto ko 'yung mga dati ng artista, kasi magiging maganda 'yung chemistry ng pagtratrabaho namin dahil hindi na gaanong malaki 'yung paga-adjust,” he shares.
Gardo also says that he would like to do an indie film someday. Speaking like a true advocate of the arts, he clarifies that for him “dapat kasi klaro to everyone na we are not after the money in doing an indie film, kaya dapat everyone has the passion na parang we are doing this as a team.”
With this much passion and experience, we are sure that Gardo’s direcorial debut is something worth watching out for.
Retiring soon?
With the current state of the entertainment industry today, we asked Gardo if he has ever considered retiring from acting.

“Oo. Before,” he says. “But then, parang naisip ko naman na hindi ko pa nasasagad lahat halos ng gusto kong gawin. So bakit susuko ako agad?”
He further adds that he would still be in show business even if he gives up acting: “Like now, I’m studying directing and then ngayon mas hinihimay ko 'yung every character na ibinibigay sa akin.”
Indeed, this man has found his passion in life and would do what it takes to help the industry. Gardo ended the interview with an invitation and expressed his gratitude to the fans that continuously support him and his endeavors: “Doon sa mga sumusuporta, sana patuloy nilang suportahan ang
Magdusa Ka and sana kung meron silang comments and suggestions pwede silang magsulat sa
iGMA forums. Malaking bagay din 'yung kumbaga para sa ikagaganda din and I’m sure gusto din nilang makita 'yung mga sinuggest nila.”
