Actress-endorser Bianca Umali grew up right before our every eyes.
From her stint in Tropang Potchi (2009), she is now one of the top young actresses in GMA Network, playing more mature and complex roles.
In an exclusive chat with Kapuso Showbiz News, Bianca shared how she handled the transition from her sweet image to a more serious actress.
She said that the process was never easy.
Bianca noted, “Transitioning is never easy. Kumbaga, para siyang puberty din like, when you go through the awkward stage, before you actually become kung ano talaga 'yung hitsura mo, hanggang sa tumanda ka.
“'Yung pag-transition ko ngayon, it wasn't something directly na sinabi ko na, 'Ay gusto ko na po maging mature,'
“Actually, walang ganun, it just happened siguro dahil sa pag-iiba ng hitsura ko and sa growth ko rin bilang tao.”
Bianca added, “Hindi talaga siya decision, nangyari lang siya and luckily for me, everything was nag-flow lang.”
One of the things she struggled with during this whole process was building her confidence.
The GMA Artist Center beauty admitted that she is her own worst critic.
“'Yun 'yung pinakahirap for me, 'yung [pag-build ng] confidence.
"Kasi, ako alam ko sa sarili ko before, especially when I was starting pa lang, na 'yun 'yung wala ako.
“Like I was really not confident with myself, 'tsaka mabilis ko na i-criticize 'yung sarili ko, 'yung ganun.”
But going through some rough moments in her life helped Bianca a lot in gaining confidence.
She said that it was a “great learning” experience.
“It was a struggle, but I think eventually because of the things I have been through.
"Because of all the challenges and all the obstacles in life, I think ang laking tulong ng hard times sa akin.”
“Doon ko natutunan [and] nakuha 'yung confidence.”
