Bianca Umali and Lola Vicky looked back on their humble beginnings in showbiz, including experiences of bullying.

Kapuso actress Bianca Umali opened up about her experiences of bullying when she was starting in show business.

“May mga stories si Mama [her Lola Vicky] na sometimes we would get a little bullied and all that, [pero] never siyang pumatol. Ever. Never,” said Bianca on the January 30 episode of GTV's cooking talk show, Lutong Bahay.

According to the Kapuso actress, it was those experiences that helped her push through.

“What she always told me was, 'Darating din 'yung oras mo,' Kami rin kasi talaga 'yung pinakabago noon," Bianca recalled.

Lola Vicky also looked back on their humble beginnings, "Kasi, noong bago siya, kapag may taping, sila naka-- mayroon silang mga kama, kami hindi. Nandoon lang kami sa sahig.”

But she took pride in the changes in Bianca's career and said their situation has changed since then.

“Noon lang, pero sandali lang 'yun! Nagbago na siya. Sumikat na rin," Lola Vicky said.

Bianca added, “Iyon 'yung lagi niyang sinasabi na 'Darating din 'yung oras mo,'" Maybe I think it was those times na she would see me looking [at co-celebrities]. May mga ganoong moment, 'di ba? 'Yung makikita mo na nakatingin 'yung bata, pero [hindi ako nagsasalita].”

Despite her young age, Bianca was mature enough to handle the situation and hold on to the values that Lola Vicky instilled in her.

“Kasi nga na-instill sa amin ni Mama na kung ano 'yung wala, e, wala. Paghirapan mo para magkaroon ka, and that was okay. We were happy. As long as alam namin na mama was there,” she said.

Meanwhile, Bianca and Lola Vicky also revealed that they took the trains when the Kapuso actress was just starting in show business. However, due to old age and her grandmother's health conditions, Bianca had to buy her vehicle and go to work alone at the young age of 14.

When asked if she felt pity for herself, having to go to work alone and as an orphan, Bianca truthfully answered “No,” instead, she thought of “what ifs.”

“I guess hindi siya ano-- I never felt awa sa sarili, but of course as an orphan, there was always moments where iisipin ko, ano kayang difference kung nandito 'yung mommy and daddy ko,” Bianca told Mikee and Kuya Dudut.

“Nag-wo-wonder [ako], especially 'pag makikita mo 'yung mga kasama mo na may mga stage mom at stage dad, but regardless, I was the only one who had my lola and that is what made us different.”
