After years of anticipation, K-pop icons BIGBANG finally made their debut at Coachella, treating fans to a powerful, nostalgia-filled set as they usher in their 20th anniversary.
The group was initially part of the festival's 2020 lineup, but plans were scrapped due to the global pandemic. Six years later, members G-Dragon, Taeyang, and Daesung took over the Outdoor Theatre stage, delivering a dynamic performance that spanned their nearly two-decade career.
"It's so nice to finally meet you in person. I've been waiting for this moment for so long," Daesung told the crowd, reflecting on the group's long journey to the Coachella stage.
Opening with explosive energy, BIGBANG fired up the audience with “BANG BANG BANG,” followed by crowd favorites “Fantastic Baby” and “Sober.” The trio then slowed things down with a string of emotionally driven tracks, including “A Fool of Tears,” “Loser,” “Haru Haru,” and “Lies,” highlighting the group's signature blend of intensity and sentiment.
Each member also carved out his own moment in the spotlight. Taeyang performed “Ringa Linga,” while G-Dragon showcased “Power,” before the two reunited for their collaboration track “Good Boy.” Daesung, meanwhile, added a distinct twist by bringing trot to the desert stage through “HANDO-CHOGUA” and “Look at Me, Gwisun.”
The set wrapped with “Still Life,” notably featuring vocals from former member T.O.P, who stepped away from the group in 2023.
Taeyang shared his appreciation with fans before the show's end, saying their Coachella appearance “means a lot to us.”
"I'm so grateful to share our music and our passion with all of you," he said.
G-Dragon also hinted at what's ahead for the group, telling the audience, "This year is BIGBANG's 20th anniversary and it just started. We've got some big things coming soon."
Earlier, Yang Hyun-suk of YG Entertainment revealed that BIGBANG is preparing for a world tour to celebrate the milestone.
The group joins a growing list of Korean acts performing at this year's Coachella, including Taemin of SHINee and global girl group KATSEYE.
BIGBANG is also set to return for the festival's second weekend. Since debuting in 2006, the group has become one of the most influential names in K-pop, with over 140 million records sold worldwide.
