Korean boy group BIGBANG's Daesung has reportedly left YG Entertainment but remains a member of BIGBANG.
This was confirmed by Korean media on December 26, as well as the news that BIGBANG member Taeyang had signed with The Black Label, an associate company of YG Entertainment.
Taeyang's departure came after the expiration of his contract with YG Entertainment. Both Daesung and Taeyang remain members of BIGBANG.
YG Entertainment was quoted by Soompi saying, “Daesung has decided to end his contract with us.” They also elaborated, “He's looking for a fresh start.”
Furthermore, YG Entertainment stated,“The fact that Daesung is a BIGBANG member has not changed,” stated the agency. “We support Daesung's choice and new start, and we are always open to cooperating with him.”
As for G-Dragon, YG Entertainment said, “We are still in the midst of contract negotiations.”
Meanwhile, BIGBANG member T.O.P left YG Entertainment after the expiration of his contract earlier this year.
BIGBANG debuted in 2006 under YG Entertainment with members T.O.P., G-Dragon, Taeyang, Seungri, and Daesung.
In 2019, Seungri left the group and retired from the entertainment industry after his involvement in the Burning Sun scandal.
In April 2022, BigBang made a comeback after four years with the single "Still Life."
