The legal battle continues as BIGHIT Music reaffirms its stance against malicious attacks targeting BTS.
In an English statement released on Weverse, the agency shared updates on its ongoing efforts to take strong legal action against those responsible for slander, privacy violations, and other harmful activities directed at the group.
"This quarter, we have initiated legal action against the authors of malicious posts, who were identified through valuable fan reports and our monitoring of domestic online communities, music sites, and international social media channels," they wrote.
"Even in anonymous online spaces, acts that defame others, such as slandering artists, using insulting language, or spreading unfounded rumors, are subject to criminal punishment under laws such as the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection. We are committed to using all available legal channels to protect our artists and are responding strongly to such illegal acts with a zero-tolerance policy."
The record label also reported progress on last year's complaints, noting that several cases have already been forwarded to the prosecution with recommendations for indictment. In some instances, suspects were even summoned for questioning through executed warrants, underscoring the seriousness of the charges.
The statement further revealed several recent attempted break-ins at the homes of BTS members.
"We are actively cooperating with relevant authorities to ensure a thorough investigation into these intrusions, including by reporting them to the police and submitting evidence and written opinions. Some of these cases have been forwarded to the prosecution, and we will spare no effort in ensuring these individuals face the strictest possible legal consequences."
BIGHIT Music also stressed that any form of privacy invasion at BTS' residence will be strictly dealt with under the law, including charges of trespassing, stalking, and other illegal acts that cause “serious anxiety and distress” to the members.
In closing, the agency appealed to the public to respect the members' privacy, emphasizing the importance of fans' continued support.
"We are always grateful for the affection and dedication shown by the fans of BTS. BIGHIT MUSIC will continue to work to ensure that the rights of our artists are fully protected."
Last June, BTS officially completed their mandatory military service, with Jimin and Jungkook being the last to leave camp, and Suga also finishing his alternative service.
The group began enlisting in 2022, starting with the eldest member Jin, followed by J-Hope a few months later. Both were discharged in 2024.
Now, with all seven members officially back, they are enjoying some well-deserved vacation and solo activities while gearing up for their highly anticipated group comeback.
