Drew Arellano explores South Korea from home

Host Drew Arellano solicits the help of a Korea-based Pinoy to show a different side of the East Asian country.

Our favorite Biyahero Drew Arellano visits the Land of the Morning Calm - virtually, at least, for the new episode of Biyahe ni Drew.

Helping Drew explore the sites and scenes of South Korea is a Pinoy resident who has been living there for 13 years.

Their first stop is Hongdae Street, an area that is the epicenter of cool in Seoul (capital of South Korea) as it is home to dozens of urban art, fashion shops, accessories stores, and affordable food.

If you're a fan of the K-drama Itaewon Class, then you might recognize the Seoul Fortress Wall.

The good news is that tourists can visit this scenic spot to enjoy the scenery and relive their K-drama fantasies. So, make sure to pencil in this area if you're planning to visit South Korea after the pandemic.

For now, you can marvel at how beautiful the place is courtesy of our Korea-based Biyahero Correspondent.

Sampling Korean delicacies is a must if you are in the country. Whet your appetite while looking at the rich, authentic samgyeopsal being served locally - yum!

Watching all the action from the sidelines gives Drew the itch to soak up Korean culture even at home.

His solution? Sign up for basic Korean language lessons to learn about the language.

All that “neh” and “ahn-nyong-ha-se-yo” though is enough to make Drew hungry.

The amiable host tries the mouthwatering galbi-jjim or braised Korean short ribs cooked for almost three days.

Luckily for Drew, there are a lot of Korean restaurants that deliver within Metro Manila so scouting for authentic dishes is not a problem.

Discover more of South Korea in the new episode of Biyahe ni Drew tomorrow, Friday, December 4, at 9:15 P.M. on GMA News TV.
