These days, people can't get enough of Korea. Delicious food? Check. State of the art facilities? Check. A bustling nightlife? Check. Pair these with the rise of South Korean drama, culture, and pop music, no wonder it has become part of anyone's dream destination.
South Korea's main capital, Seoul Capital Area (Sudogwon), houses 25.6 million people making it the fourth largest metropolitan area in the world after Tokyo, Shanghai, and Jakarta.
Like most capitals, Seoul is bustling with curiosities. Everywhere you go, there's always something interesting to find whether it's a cafe, a restaurant, and even a cosmetics store -- there's always something for everyone.
So what are the things to keep in mind when visiting Seoul? Check this list from Drew Arellano himself during his trip to Seoul, South Korea.
Think of Seoul as the younger sister of Tokyo, so when it comes to information technology, it's very well-developed. So, it's no biggie that you can easily get WiFi in any store, especially in cafes.
But, if you want safer and faster internet access at all times, it's better to either rent a WiFi router or buy a local sim card to make accessing your favorite social media sites a breeze.
Because Seoul is bustling with tourists all year round, tourist information centers are spread all over the city to help tourists who are having a hard time navigating the capital.
Aside from that, Seoul's tourist information center not only provides you with information about the country, it also boasts with other features like a 360-View Media Wall, a VR Experience, a cafe, and a Korean star experience all in one.
If you're worried about where to go, Drew Arellano suggests purchasing a Discover Seoul Pass to help you get around.
From either the 24, 48 or the 72-hour pass, you can visit various attractions including the Lotte World and the Hangang Cruise all for free! You can also use the card as a transportation card or T-money which allows easy access to buses and subways in Seoul.
Taking a bath at a jimjilbang is one of the must-do things when you visit Seoul. This gender-segregated bathhouse features relaxing hot and cold pools, bathing and massage areas, various saunas, entertainment lounges, and communal sleeping rooms.
So if you're looking for a day of relaxation after all that shopping spree, you should hit a jimjilbang that's scattered around the city.
If there's a day you feel like ordering in during your trip, Korea's got you covered. With its efficient and fast delivery food service, you can order anything from chicken wings to rice noodles at the tip of your fingertips.
You also don't have to worry about language barriers because delivery apps in Korea also come with the English language! Chicken and beer, anyone?
