BLACKPINK's Lisa has shared a heartfelt message with BLINKs following the group's 10th anniversary celebration, which drew criticism over how the milestone event was organized.
Lisa opened up about the issue on Friday through the paid fan communication platform Bubble, nearly a week after BLACKPINK marked its 10th anniversary on August 8. “It's been almost a week since our 10th [year] anniversary,” Lisa said in English. “As we are all aware, there have been some matters that have been circulating online.”
“Which makes me sad and I'm truly sorry about how things turned out. I can't even imagine how sad this must have been because I was too. It was supposed to be a special moment and a time of celebration for all of us. I'm not here to justify anything or make a point, only to honor the love and connection we shared because I'm truly grateful that we were able to come together,” she added.
BLACKPINK celebrated their decade-long journey with a meet-and-greet at the National Museum of Korea in Seoul's Yongsan District on August 8. YG Entertainment announced the event just two days before the anniversary and said only members whose schedules allowed would participate. The announcement came after fans had already voiced disappointment over the lack of anniversary plans, with some also questioning the limited notice and guest list of only 40 fans.
All four members, Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa—eventually attended the gathering. Jisoo addressed fans during the event, saying, “I think this anniversary is a day when I feel especially sorry. My heart feels heavy because so many BLINKs are upset.”
Rosé later shared her own thoughts about the milestone. “I think I had a lot of regrets as we marked our 10th anniversary. It wasn't that I didn't understand how the fans felt. Rather, I related to those feelings so much that it took me some time to figure out what to say first,” she said.
“I feel heavyhearted because I think I made you feel even more alone during that time,” Rosé added.
Meanwhile, Jennie used the occasion to reflect on her decade with the group and express her gratitude to the fans who have supported her throughout her career.
“Above all else, living as 'Jennie' alongside Blink has allowed me to know myself better and learn to love myself. Thank you sincerely for loving me, believing in me, and walking with me for these 10 years,” Jennie said.
She also expressed her appreciation for her fellow members, adding, “I want to say a heartfelt thank you to our members who have shared this entire journey with me.”
BLACKPINK debuted under YG Entertainment on August 8, 2016, and has since become one of K-pop's biggest girl groups. The quartet released its third EP, “Deadline,” in February and concluded its stadium world tour of the same name in Hong Kong in January.
While Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa are signed with separate agencies for their individual activities, YG Entertainment continues to manage BLACKPINK's group activities.
