Blackpink Rose Call Her Daddy podcast

Rosé tears up while talking about relationships and not being defined by it.

BLACKPINK member Rosé spoke candidly about independence, self-identity, and personal growth during her recent appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast, emphasizing that her worth is not tied to her relationship status.

In her conversation with host Alex Cooper, the singer shared that while past relationships have shaped parts of her emotional journey, she has become intentional about not letting romance define who she is as a person.

She answered, “I feel if I say no, it's such a lie, you can tell. I am looking for love.”

Rosé then added, "To this crazy story about how addicted to men I am, for example...

"Is this going to define who I am? How sad of a reality is that, that makes me sad. I'm only sad because
I feel like just because I'm from a K-pop group, doesn't mean I'm a different type of human being."

In the interview, Rosé also opened up about why questions surrounding her dating life often make her anxious, explaining that it's less about the relationships themselves and more about how they are perceived and reacted to by the public. She shared that any mention of her romantic life can quickly become magnified, reduced to speculation, or turned into a defining narrative, something she has worked hard to distance herself from.

While the New Zealand-born singer shared that she believes there may come a time when she can be more open about her romantic life, she acknowledged that she isn't ready for that level of visibility yet. For now, she prefers to keep that part of her world out of public view.

During her conversation with Cooper, Rosé revealed one of the unconventional ways she managed to keep past relationships under wraps. To avoid drawing attention, she resorted to disguising herself as an elderly woman, complete with a wig and an entirely separate set of clothing reserved for those occasions.

“I would go to his house [dressed as a granny], because we can't go anywhere,” she said, laughing. “For a while in my house, we got rid of it now, but I had a whole section of just grandma clothes, because I went wild…I think at one point, I even imitated how they would walk.”

Rosé also spoke candidly about a former partner she described as “toxic,” appearing to reference the same relationship she once navigated in disguise. Looking back, she framed the experience as a product of youth and emotional inexperience. “I was young,” she told Cooper, laughing. “It was just not a good match — but we liked each other, so we just kept it going for a bit.”

She went on to explain how her feelings at the time often clouded her judgment, admitting that she was deeply invested despite recurring discomfort. “I was just very like, 'I'm, like, in love' and whatever,” she continued. “But then anytime he'd be like, 'Oh, I'm just gonna go hang out with my friends, and I don't want to have you there.' He'd make it seem like he's trying to limit, like, talk or whatever. But I'm like, 'Why did you need that?' … At that time, I thought he was really serious about his job. And I was like, 'That's hot.'”

Her podcast appearance arrives during a major moment in her career. Rosé is gearing up for the release of Deadline, BLACKPINK's upcoming mini-album set to drop on Feb. 27. The interview also lands just days before the 2026 Grammy Awards, where ROSÉ is nominated for record of the year, song of the year, and best pop duo/group performance for her hit collaboration “APT.” with Bruno Mars , a historic achievement that makes her the first K-pop soloist to receive nominations in the ceremony's major categories.
