Since premiering in Korea in May 2022, the homegrown action comedy The Roundup has become Korea's biggest draw since the pandemic began, attracting over 2 million moviegoers on its first weekend.
For three consecutive weekends, The Roundup continued to set records, becoming the first Korean film since 2019 to reach more than 9 million moviegoers.
This month, the blockbuster Korean comedy action film is coming to the Philippines, and is expected to hit SM Cinemas nationwide on June 22, 2022.
Lee Sang-yong's The Roundup is a red-blooded, ultra-violent, and riotously entertaining follow-up to his 2017's The Outlaws. Ma Dong-seok, aka Don Lee, reprises his role as the heavyweight law enforcer, Ma Seok-do, who travels to Vietnam to extradite a petty criminal, only to pick up the trail of a ferocious killer named Kang Hae-sang, played by Sukku Son.
Helping Ma Seok-do carry out his mission are Jeon Il-man (Choi Gwi-hwa), Oh Dong-gyun (Heo Dong- won) and Kang Hong-seok (Ha Jun), and the rookie Kim Sang-hoon (Jung Jae-kwang). Actor Park Ji-hwan also joins the group as the comic relief Jang Yi-soo.
The Philippine screening of the box-office Korean action film The Roundup would not have been possible without the efforts of Grace Lee, CEO of the content production and distribution company, Glimmer Inc.
