Once Upon a Time in Hollywood

American film director, Quentin Tarantino, turns a new page following a book agreement with a major publishing house.

Growing up in the 70s, Quentin Tarantino voraciously read novels based on movies.

It is safe to assume that this hobby would add fuel to his creative fire later on both as a storyteller and director.

Now, the 57-year-old filmmaker finds his movie being turned into a novel after signing a book deal with HarperCollins.

The agreement will cover two books - a novelization of Once Upon a Time… In Hollywood and a non-fiction book titled Cinema Speculation containing essays, reviews, and personal writings.

The first book according to Harper will provide “a fresh, playful and shocking departure from the film.”

Once Upon a Time ... In Hollywood came out in 2019 and stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, and Margot Robbie.

The movie was a blockbuster hit, earning 10 Academy Awards nominations and winning Best Production Design and Best Supporting Actor for Pitt.

Tarantino hints at breathing new depth and twist on the book version to make it independent from the movie.

“In the '70s movie novelizations were the first adult books I grew up reading,” Tarantino issued in a statement.

“And to this day I have a tremendous amount of affection for the genre. So as a movie-novelization aficionado, I'm proud to announce Once Upon a Time ... In Hollywood as my contribution to this often marginalized, yet beloved sub-genre in literature.

“I'm also thrilled to further explore my characters and their world in a literary endeavor that can (hopefully) sit alongside its cinematic counterpart.”

Once Upon a Time ... In Hollywood, the novel, is set for release next year in paperback, e-book, and digital audio formats.
