The long-serving evening radio show Boys Night Out has come to an abrupt end after nearly two decades on air.
On Wednesday, October 1, longtime DJ Tin “Suzy” Gamboa announced her resignation from Magic 89.9 and said the program's final episode would air on October 2. However, later that evening, Tin revealed through an emotional Instagram video that the show had already aired its last episode on Monday, September 30.
“So they just took away what was supposed to be our #LastNightOut by putting us on preventative suspension for the things I said Monday evening. Essentially, @boysnightoutph's last show on Magic 89.9 was last night,” Gamboa said tearfully.
She went on to apologize to her co-hosts Slick Rick and Tony Toni, expressing regret that they were not given the chance to bid listeners farewell after 19 years on air.
“To Slick and Tones, I'm sorry for all the bombs I dropped that led to this. You both deserved a chance to say thank you to all the listeners for the last 19 years they spent with you. You both deserve the world, but instead you got this,” she said.
TIn also extended her gratitude to loyal listeners of the program.
“To our listeners, I'm sorry we won't get the chance to say a proper goodbye. But from the bottom of our hearts, thank you for allowing us to be part of your lives. I hope you know how much you mean to all of us, and how thankful we all are for all the years you've stuck by us--both through the show, and as individuals. You guys allowed us to live our dream lives, and for that we will be forever grateful.”
She ended her message with a promise that this would not be the last fans would see of them: “#BNOForever. Thank you for all the messages of love and support. We love you all SO MUCH. You haven't seen the last of us. We'll see you again soon.”
She also shared an Instagram post where she reveals her decision to resign broke her heart but it was "the right thing to do."
While its sudden end left fans without a proper farewell, Boys Night Out closes its nearly two-decade run as one of the country's most recognizable and beloved radio shows. And though its time on Magic 89.9 has ended, the hosts Tin "Suzy" Gamboa, DJ Slick Rick, DJ Sam YG, DJ Gino Quillamor, and DJ Toni Toni have hinted that this won't be the last time listeners will hear from them.
