"Sobrang fulfilling," Brent says to GMANetwork.com after making his debut in 'One More Chance, The Musical.'
After receiving praises for his portrayal of Peter in GMA Prime series Widows' War, Kapuso actor Brent Valdez took his talent to a different setting, this time, making his debut in PETA's One More Chance, The Musical.
On September 27, Brent played the role of Kenneth in the the musical inspired by the 2007 movie of the same name. Brent is alternating the role of Kenneth, portrayed in the movie by James Blanco, with Paji Arceo.
"Sobrang fulfilling. After months of training, preparation, maraming emotions 'yung kinailangang paghandaan para dito sa musical na ito. Wow, it's a roller coaster of emotions really," Brent said after the show to GMANetwork.com.
"Hindi ko lubos akalain na matatapos ko 'to at magagawa ko 'yung debut ngayong araw na 'to kasi everyday, habang nagre-rehearse kami, habang ginagawa lahat ng moving parts, may times na tinatanong ko 'yung sarili ko, 'Kaya ko pa ba 'to? Kaya ko ba 'to? Masu-surpass ko ba 'yung challenge na ibinigay sa akin?'
"But, I'm grateful to everyone, especially the 'One More Chance' family, to PETA team, to the entire team, staff, crew, everyone else kasi in-extend nila 'yung love and support to me, considering I'm from the traditional media."
Brent admitted that the hardest part in performing on stage was he needed to sing, dance, and act at the same time.
"Ang pinaka-challenging really is the fact that I'll be dancing, singing, and acting, all at the same time. It takes a lot of courage, number 1, maraming strength, inside strength really na i-push 'yung sarili mo, 'Come on! Let's do this! You can do this!
"And, with my cast members, I'm really happy kasi ini-extend nila, for example, if I have a scene with Popoy or Basha, automatic na doon sa rehearsals, i-e-extend agad nila 'yung help nila, e.
"I felt at home, and at the same time, roller coaster of emotions really."
One More Chance, The Musical features the songs of the massively popular and award-winning Filipino nine-piece band, Ben&Ben.
Sam Concepcion and CJ Navato are alternately portraying the role of Popoy, opposite Anna Luna and Nicole Omillo, who are portraying the role of Basha.
The cast also includes Sheena Belarmino and Kiara Takahashi as Tricia, Jay Gonzaga and Jed Flores as Mark, Jon Abella and Gio Gaholas JP, Johnnie Moran as Chinno, Via Antonio and Miah Canton as Anj, Ada Tayao and Rica Laguardia as Krizzy, Chez Cuenca and Coleen Paz as Helen/Guia/Roselle, JC Galano and Matthew Barbers as Francis/Mr.Tan, Neomi Gonzales and Carla Guevara-Laforteza as Edith/Rose, Raul Montesa and Floyd Tena as Bert/Willie, and Hazel Maranan as Elvie.
One More Chance, The Musical is now ongoing until October 27, at the PETA Theater Center, New Manila, Quezon City. Tickets are available via TicketWorld.
