After months of rumors about tension between Brooklyn Beckham, his wife Nicola Peltz Beckham, and his parents David and Victoria Beckham, Brooklyn finally spoke out in a dramatic Instagram post, accusing his parents of repeatedly trying to undermine his relationship for publicity.
"I have been silent for years and have made every attempt to keep these matters private. Unfortunately, my parents and their team have continued to go to the press, leaving me with no choice but to speak for myself and tell the truth about only some of the lies that have been printed," Brooklyn wrote in a multi-slide post on Instagram Stories. "I do not want to reconcile with my family. I'm not being controlled, I'm standing up for myself for the first time in my life."
In the post, Brooklyn detailed several instances where he claims his parents attempted to interfere in his relationship, including during his 2022 wedding and at David Beckham's 50th birthday celebration last year.
The post follows months of reported tension within the extended Beckham family, including claims of social media blocks and the noticeable absence of the Peltz Beckhams from family holidays and events.
Brooklyn criticized his parents' priorities, writing that they “values public promotion and endorsements above all else … Brand Beckham comes first. Family 'love' is decided by how much you post on social media, or how quickly you drop everything to show up and pose for a family photo.”
Brooklyn also accused his mother Victoria of “hijacking” his and Nicola's planned first dance on their wedding day, an event that had been scheduled weeks in advance.
“In front of our 500 wedding guests, Marc Anthony called me to the stage, where in the schedule was planned to be my romantic dance with my wife, but instead, my mum was waiting to dance with me instead,” he wrote.
“She danced very inappropriately on me in front of everyone. I've never felt more uncomfortable or humiliated in my entire life,” he added.
Additionally, Brooklyn and Nicola, who live in Los Angeles, were not present during David's 50th birthday celebrations in 2025.
Brooklyn also addressed the birthday incident on his Instagram Stories, explaining that he and Nicola traveled to London for the celebrations and “waited in our hotel room trying to plan quality time with him. He refused all of our attempts, unless it was at his big birthday party with a hundred guests and cameras at every corner. When he finally agreed to see me, it was under the condition that Nicola wasn't invited.”
He wrapped up his post by saying that, since choosing to remain estranged, he feels “peace and relief,” adding, “My wife and I do not want a life shaped by image, press or manipulation. All we want is peace, privacy and happiness for us and for our future family.”
