
Popularly known as Captain Raymond Holt on the American comedy show Brooklyn Nine-Nine, actor Andre Braugher has passed away at the age of 61 on December 11, Monday.
His death was confirmed on Tuesday by his longtime publicist, Jennifer Allen who only stated his cause of death was a brief illness.
Meanwhile in the official social media accounts of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, a picture of Andre or Captain Holt with the caption "Always our Captain. We love you, Andre" was posted as tribute to the late actor.

The Emmy Award-winning actor started his passion in the arts in college. He graduated with a degree in Bachelor of Arts in Theater from Stanford University. After earning his degree, he then attended Juilliard School in New York City.
Aside from Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Andre was also known for his role as Detective Frank Pembleton, on crime show Homicide: Life on the Street. He earned an Emmy award for lead actor for the role.
He also married his co-star in the show, Ami Brabson and became a father of three children: Michael, Isaiah, and John Wesley.
Since then, his career flourished as he starred in several other movies and shows, like the Oscar awarded film Glory and TV shows Gideon's Crossing, Men of a Certain Age, and Thief where he received another Emmy award.
He also earned four Emmy nominations and two Critics Choice Awards between 2013 and 2021 for comedy show Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
