The Philippines Men's Volleyball Team advances to the gold medal match after 42 years. The squad won against defending champion Thailand last night, December 8, at the PhilSports Arena.
In 1977, the last time the Philippines competed in the finals of the men's indoor volleyball, our country finished second behind Burma (now called Myanmar).
The Philippines beat Thailand in a tough five-set match: 17-25, 25-20, 23-25, 27-25, 17-15.
Ace spikers Bryan Bagunas and Marck Espejo combined 47 points to carry the country to the finals; wherein they will go against Indonesia, the reigning silver medalist.
Team captain John Vic De Guzman also expressed his utmost gratitude to their supporters who were instrumental for their amazing performance in the 2019 Southeast Asian Games.
